| Now there's a faster, more reliable way to seam weld geotextiles and geomembranes. The NOVAWELD-branded GT-100 is a hand-held wedge welder that uses a heated wedge to fuse geosynthetic materials.
How It Works. After you set the GT-100 to the appropriate temperature, the wedge is placed between two layers of material. As you glide the GT-100 along the lap (followed by a hand-held pressure roller) the wedge applies just the right amount of heat to the material surfaces which are then pressure rolled and bonded permanently. Its lightweight ergonomic design allows you to weld at speeds up to 20 feet per minute all day long. There are no heating coils to burn out, no thread to reload, no lost broken needles. That means less down-time on the job. Reduced overlap increases profit on every square yard installed.
"Wedge welding can consistently attain seam efficiencies of greater than 80% for the majority of geotextiles." Ron Frobel, R.K. Frobel & Associates
The GT-100 is designed to weld polyester, polypropylene and nylon geotextile nonwoven and woven materials, as well as reinforced PVC, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Polypropylene Liners and other geosynthetic materials. During the past 20 years, the GT-100 Wedge Welder has become known as the Universal HDPE Welder for its field production speeds, quality seals and ease of use.
Its speed and reliability make it perfect for geotextile and geomembrane installations for erosion control, pond liners, and environmental liners. Its size and design allow you to not only seam weld complete jobs, but also small installations, maintenance and patchwork, in tight corners and around obstacles.
"The GT-100 is a lot faster than hot air and the wedge welded seams looked like a factory weld." Robert Burden, contractor for Polar Supply installing HDPE.
The GT-100 is part of a family of NOVAWELD-branded products for installation of geosynthetic materials. Additional products include the GT-200 Semi-Automatic Wedge Welder for nonwoven geotextiles and the GT-500 Automatic Wedge Welder for geomembranes. The GT-100 is used for both geotextile and geomembrane materials.
When ordering, specify GT-100/120 (120 VAC with cordset) or GT-100/240 (240 VAC without cordset). 120 VAC units are shipped with male plug attached. 240 VAC units are shipped without male plug attached although with instructions on how to connect your Country-code approved male plug.
